Want to learn more about the people behind the Brew? This series will give you the answers to the most important questions (and some not-so-important questions) you may want to ask. This week, we’re chatting with Brenner Keaton, our Project Coordinator & Delivery Management Specialist.
- Where did you grow up?
I’ve lived in and gone to school in Baton Rouge my entire life. I’ve had a great time at every school I’ve been to and am proud to call LSU my Alma Mater. It’s been a great experience getting to see my hometown grow as I have grown with it.
- What do you do for fun?
I often spend my time outside of work with my friends. Whether it’s getting together to watch the game, play pickup basketball, or a night of cards, we always manage to get something together. When I’m alone, I love finding new meals to cook for myself and am learning to play the guitar. Aside from those things, I enjoy coaching and playing soccer whenever I get the chance.
- Did you always want to be a Project Coordinator/Delivery Management Specialist?
Not at all! While at LSU I knew that Business was a natural fit for me, but I couldn’t figure out where I best belonged. In my final year, I took the majority of my marketing classes and enjoyed them so much that I knew I wanted to work at an agency. Once inside the agency, I knew that leading towards a project management role would be something that I enjoyed and was very in line with my strengths, and I couldn’t be happier than the position I’m in now.
- What’s your favorite brew?
For the mornings, I love a cold brew with just a bit of honey to give me a kickstart to my day. After work I often find myself gravitating towards a Parish Canebrake, or Flying Tiger’s Jucee, especially when the blood orange flavor is in season.
- What’s your top Brew core value and why?
Personally, I find it hard to choose between two. Being positive is such an important value to have both in the workplace and in personal life. Having a positive outlook is a great way to better yourself both mentally and personally. The other value of Brew’s that I really like is the BrewEDU. It allows me to pursue continuing education in the marketing industry and keeps me ahead of the curve.
- Favorite local lunch spot?
It definitely depends on my mood, but I love sushi, and Sushi Yama on Perkins is great! If you’re looking for something a little quicker, nothing beats a sandwich and Humphrey from Counter Culture.
- What’s one fact about yourself that most people would be surprised to hear? I’m actually a very good Spanish speaker! I’ve had great opportunities to travel and visit multiple countries where I can practice my skills and also take time during the week to continue practicing. I’m not much of a reader in general, but reading in Spanish is something I enjoy.
- Which fictional character (tv show, movie, or book) do you most identify with?
Since I’ve been watching a lot of Ted Lasso, I’m going to have to say Coach Beard. Like myself, he is very reserved and only speaks when necessary, but he’s very comfortable around the people close to him. He doesn’t need to be in the spotlight, but knowing he’s making an impact is enough for him. He’s also adventurous and doesn’t shy away from a good time!
- What’s your ideal birthday celebration?
A round of golf in the morning, a beer and a nap for lunch, and any of my mother’s home-cooked meals for dinner. All while being surrounded by the company of my friends and family.
- Who do you want to be when you grow up?
There’s a lot of different ways to answer this question. But, I really just want to leave a positive impact on everyone that knows me. No matter who they are.
