This past December, the Women’s Business Enterprise Council South (WBEC South) honored Brew Agency of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as the winner of the 2018 Rising Star Award for its innovation in business and proven trajectory of growth. The award was presented at the 2018 Women in Business Leadership Luncheon, hosted at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Each year, one company is selected and recognized at the WBEC South’s Annual Meeting & Leadership Luncheon. Marie Brewer Powell, Owner/CEO, and her team were honored to be chosen as this year’s top Rising Star in the southern region, which includes Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and the Florida Panhandle.
Women’s Business Enterprise Council (WBEC) South is a regional partner of the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the largest certifier of women-owned businesses (WBEs) in the U.S. and a leading advocate for women business owners and entrepreneurs. With more than 800 corporate members, the organization’s mission is to advance and enhance business opportunities between corporations and women owned businesses through a reputable certification program, education and professional growth opportunities.
“Our Rising Star Awards recognize those newer woman-owned companies that evidence a strong growth trajectory, but also have a proven track record of innovation, extraordinary service provision and sustainability in their respective fields. Brew hits all of those marks and we look forward to witnessing their future growth and success,” says Phala Mire, President and CEO, WBEC South.
Powell says she believes, unequivocally, this would not have been possible without the talent and dedication of Brew’s outstanding team. She believes the best is yet to be seen.
“Our growth over the last few years has been significant, and we are constantly having to adapt and evolve to keep up in a very a fast-paced industry. I believe our unique culture and open work environment is what drives our team to stay creative and bring innovation into our workplace. We are very proud of this recognition,” says Powell.
