Want to learn more about the people behind the Brew? This series will give you the answers to the most important questions (and some not-so-important questions) you may want to ask. This week, we’re chatting with Chelsea Lavigne, our project coordinator and digital marketing specialist.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in good ole Mandeville, Louisiana. It is a beautiful and quaint town about 30 minutes from New Orleans.
What do you do for fun?
I love going to a good outdoor bar with a live band with my friends. I also love to just relax and watch Netflix or Hulu. I also love working out. Yes, I know that all of you are thinking… “You work out for fun?” The answer is yes. Anything outdoors is always fun too. I like soaking up some rays in that good Louisiana heat!
Did you always want to be a Project Coordinator?
No I did not! Before college, I loved video production. In high school, I did some editing and green screen for the daily morning news. But once I got into some classes in college, I found out I had a passion for advertising. I also took some business classes and I enjoyed those as well. The mix of Business and Advertising is my happy medium.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE BREW (BEER/TEA/COFFEE)?
I love a good espresso or cortado. Europe introduced me to espressos. It’s a part of their culture to drink one after dinner.
WHAT’S YOUR TOP CORE VALUE AND WHY?
I love all the values so much, but my top core values are family and positivity. I believe family should always come first, always. That is something Brew preaches and I appreciate that so much. There aren’t many agencies like this one! Additionally, positivity is something that I have personally valued since I was young. Positivity can get you so far in life. Do you see the glass half empty or half full?
FAVORITE LOCAL LUNCH SPOT?
Oh boy, this is a hard one. I absolutely love Sushi Yama. They have a very large selection of sushi. Their sushi is to die for! However, y’all also need to try the brussel sprouts – so yum!
WHAT’S ONE FACT ABOUT YOURSELF THAT MOST PEOPLE WOULD BE SURPRISED TO HEAR?
I’ve visited China twice. My dad used to coach basketball there for the CBA (Chinese Basketball Association). China has a very different, but interesting culture. Also, the Chinese food we eat in the US is nothing like the food in China. I once saw a Chinese man eat a bird beak!
WHICH FICTIONAL CHARACTER (TV SHOW, MOVIE, OR BOOK) DO YOU MOST IDENTIFY WITH?
My “inner Chelsea” is Amanda Bynes who played Viola Johnson in “She’s the Man.” First of all, she’s a soccer player, which I was too. She’s also a tomboy and she’s not afraid to step up for herself and prove people wrong.
WHAT’S YOUR IDEAL BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION?
Anywhere outdoors, and I’m happy! I love being by the water. So the river or beach would be the ideal setting. Oh, and lots of wine would be nice.
WHO DO YOU WANT TO BE WHEN YOU GROW UP?
I was hoping this was a question! I want to be a lot of things when I grow up, but here are a few:
- Loving mother
- Supportive wife
- Hard working business woman
